The World of Little Little Bird

I've been in this city for more than two years. However, I am still using the cellphone that I got from Pittsburgh three years ago. Well, I have to admit that my old-style nokia phone is very reliable. During the two years, the service provider had already changed from ATT to Cingular. I told myself many many times to get a local number, but was just too lazy to do so. On several occasions, I almost put in an order, but stopped where the credit check information was aksed. Today, I finally made up my mind and placed an order on amazon.com. Frankly, it is Cingular that help me decide. They sent me a mail saying that they would start charging $5 more on any TDMA phones from this month and would stop the service in 2008. TDMA, FDMA, CDMA, wow, those names remind me of my undergraduate study at SJTU. Back to the topic, the phone should arrive this week. It will be a tedious task to inform my friends of my new contact...

Some try to quit smoking, some try to quit drinking. I don't smoke and I don't drink. However, I wanna quit something too, something that can ruin my good mood, something that I don't have faith in any more. Well, I know I am not a patient fan. Two back to back losses is not what I can ignore. So, yes, you are right. I wanna quit watching football. I remember when I was young, I watched Chinese Soccer League. At that time, Shen Hua often lost the game that I watched. So I tried to avoid watching any more. Well, they started to win. Hope this will happen to Steelers too.

最近公司开始提供晚饭给晚下班的人。小秘那里有厚厚的一本菜单。每天从一个不同的restaurant订饭。只要上班时候跑过去，写上自己名字，挑好自己 喜欢吃的东西就可以了。晚上7点左右，restaurant会有人送饭上门。这下我这种单身汉就乐坏了。我平时也要６点２０分左右走人，这下索性就多呆点时间，吃白食了。不过脸皮还 不够厚，吃完后不好意思直接走人，所以这个星期都要８点半左右回家。开始觉得公司划不来。后来一细算，公司赚了。假设一个人平时６点回家。现在等饭到７ 点。这多出来的一个小时，如果只有半个小时干活，再假设每小时工资是４０刀，那就是说员工为了吃饭，多付出了２０刀的劳动，但是一顿饭没有２０刀。更别说脸皮薄的人了。不过最最爽的就是那些１０点多１１点来上班的同志们，他们本来就应该晚走，如今是如鱼得水。刚刚吃完，今天吃的是TGI Friday's的Jack Daniel's Salmon，还是很不错的。不过，蹭饭会有两大副作用。一，做饭技巧退化。二，吃完不动，肚皮变大。哎，继续干活，继续干活。

这个星期作为公司校园招聘队伍的一员,再次回到了CMU.三天时间,基本上就是不停的说话.是的,不停的说话,一刻不停.和一些老板meet,和秘书chat,和graduate students meet,和under meet.根本没有自己的时间.基本上是想见的人都见到了,除了我老板.他从来都是那么神出鬼没. :) 真的很累,睡眠时间也少,吃饭也有一顿没一顿的.哎,下次得考虑考虑了.从Austin回到Pittsburgh,发现Pittsburgh好潮湿.三天时间,下了三天雨.虽然气温不到70度,但是,只要穿上外套,就是一身汗.在那里读书的时候,倒是从来没有觉得,可能是上海更加潮的缘故吧.
至于flight,我要说两点.第一,最好不要去Atlanta转机.那里基本上是每个班次都会误点.我运气还好,才误了一个小时,让我得以当天回到Austin.我们组里一个小mm,在那里耽搁了一个晚上.害的剩下的人平白无故的增加了工作量.第二,航空安检有点名不副实.去的时候,在Memphis转机,刚下飞机,那里就boarding了.我只能抓了个biscuit和orange juice就往飞机上赶.虽然大喇叭不断说,哪怕你在security里面买的水,也不能带上飞机,我还是拿在手里大摇大摆上去了,黑哥根本就不care.更可笑的是,回来的时候,我吃午饭的水放在包里忘了喝掉.结果轻松过了安检.总结下来,只有两个可能.一个是美国飞机场的安检没什么用.第二就是我看上去太厚道了.打死那些TSA,也不信我是坏人.嗯.我觉得多数是第二种可能.哈哈哈哈....

Go Steelers
The 2006 NFL season started this Thursday in Pittsburgh. As the defending champion, Steelers played a solid game and scored an impressive win with Ben sitting and Bus retired. The D is great under Troy Polamalu and Joey Porter. The offensive line also did an excellent by Willie Parker's rushing and Charlie Batch's passing. Overall, it is a wonderful game for the world champion.
Hype goes down
Well, the defending champion of college football was trashed last night. The No.2 seed Longhorn could hardly organize any offensive under the freshman quarterback when they faced the No.1 seed OSU. Before the game, the hype was high as we played at home. There were orange T-shirts everywhere in the city. However, the game was not even close. It stinks.

我，是一个钻石王老五。由于家里有点产业，再加上经营得当，资产在去年翻了一翻。但是，我也老大不小了，所以在今年头上，家里就开始张罗着要找个好媳妇。 虽然以前也有过分分合合，但是这次我是认真的。通过种种关系，我认识了A。A也从小有过良好教育，家里也有一定资产，可以说的上门当户对。最重要的是，我和A性格互补，算命先生说，这个很关键。从长期的角度来说，有助于我的长远发展。我想想也是，虽然从小衣食不愁，但总是给邻居家的那个恶少I欺负。如果将来 能够扬眉吐气，哈哈，我想着想着就笑了。于是，我们就开始眉来眼去，花前月下。不过，也有些朋友劝告我，说A不值的我花那么多感情。我并不在乎，因为喜欢。世上没有不透风的墙。没过多久，我和A的事情就传开了。虽然我和她都极力 否认，但是还是影响了我的事业。我的资产迅速缩水，仅仅几个月的工夫，就蒸发了一半。我没有在意，因为我爱着她。终于，我们决定订婚了。我毫不犹豫下了巨 额聘礼。这时候，我的资产比年初已经缩水了近2/3。相反，她却由于我的丰厚礼金，资产增长了1/3。虽然心里不平衡，但是想想将来，这不算什么。在订婚 后的日子里，我得到了很多亲戚朋友的祝福。我的事业也再次进入了上升期，我很开心。直到今天。今天A突然宣布，由于我的原因，她的事业将大不如前。更让我 伤心的是，在她宣布之后，她的资产只贬值了2%，而与此同时，我的资产却在一天之内再度缩水10%。这一切都由我来买单。我的心碎了。我只想问一句， ATI，你为什么要这么对我？

A couple of days ago, I whined about some Chinese female students abused the copy machine in the apartment business center. Today, I wanna praise the efficiency of the leasing office. On the first working day after the long weekend, they have that copy machine fixed already. However, on my way to the gym tonight, I saw the fourth and fifth Chinese female new comers copying their books. Oh, my god. They must have boasted the smart ass trick among their classmates. That reminds me a very old shampoo ad, 就这样一传十,十传百,成了全航空公司的秘密. If my memory still works, it is for Head&Shoulders maybe 15 years ago.

This US open is all about one name: Andre Agassi. The tennis legend retired today after his loss in the third round, which caps his 21st appearances on US open. I remembered the big names when I started watching tennis, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang... Among them, Pete is my favorite. Pete was too excellent that made Andre kinda slip outside my radar. Not until yesterday, did I realize Andre's greatness. It was raining on Saturday, so CBS played a lot of Andre's classic games, from the four tie break semifinal with Pete in 2001, to 5 set game with Blake in 2005. He is not tall, he is not strong, he is not quick. But he works hard, he plays smart, and he has a great heart. That is why he is still playing this year. Anyway, it is all over. He retired with respect, with all the fans' heart with him. Hats off to Andre.

前两天我在blog上whine了半天新生.结果我今天在CVS也abuse了系统.前两天,我在CVS印照片后,连同receipt,给了我两张4 off 20的coupon.另外,我两个星期前还收到过他们家的10% off coupon.今天在CVS,我买了,A($20),B($3),C($2)和D($3).用了所有的coupon.结果包括税,付了$20不到,然后有$20的mail-in-rebate和$5 extra bucks.哎,在回家的路上,我就开始对自己的虚伪很不满意.我好象也一直是在abuse那些coupon.唯一的区别是我abuse的对象是fortune 500强.今天开始闭门思过...
