Christmas
What did I do last Christmas? Oh, I spent most of the time playing ps2 game GTA. What did I do this Christmas? I was watching 24. I finished season one on Friday and Saturday, and season two last night. Well, I did something else. Went to the gym a couple of times, invited Tianming for Christmas dinner, had a CMU alumni dumpling dinner party at my friend's house. Not too bad, eh?
On Sunday, Steelers were out. Too bad. However, Titans got another win amazingly. They are now having a good chance to get into the wild cards. Vince Young rocks.
24 was awesome. I am not a big fan of Jack Bauer, but I love Tony Almeida and George Mason. Tony is smart and cool and highly devoted to his job. While George is more of an ordinary man. He was smart in another way. He wanted to earn more money, he put his own interests first, a little 趋炎附势 and 小市民. That is what most people are in real life. I was really sad when I saw him die.
Tianming came on Christmas afternoon. We had 馄饨 and potato salad for dinner. We played Need For Speed, and we talked a lot. He must suffer a lot when I was complaing how life sucks. :)
On Tuesday, we went to Hui's house for a dumpling party. I brought with me a home-made roasted chicken. We talked about our friends, CMU professors, work, and etc. It was pleasant.
The next three days, I will be in my office working on the project. Hope everything goes well.
On Friday, Rong and Yan will visit Austin. We will have dinner together.
And on Sunday, my new roommate will arrive.
Next Monday, it is 2007 already...

惊天大坑
从gym回来,忍不住八卦一下最近mitbbs上出现惊天大坑.
总结一下就是,清华男娶了北大女.女的F2转F1,男的名校毕业,去了加州工作,在加州和mitbbs著名湾区美女好上了.男的后来到了Seattle工作.提出离婚.然后两女争男,互相攻击,最后又都放弃了男的.其间,又是打官司,又是爆料的.mitbbs上的神探们更是搜集了无数内幕.总之是惊天地,泣鬼神.

火气
快年底了，火气却不知不觉的大了起来。
公司里我要用A的一个软件包。当时A就不肯做，一直拖。结果我manager出面给他写email，好说歹说，答应12/15交货。当真到了12/15的 8pm他发了封email说他完成了。结果我这个星期一试，不能用。因为他用的是旧的编译器，我的程序用的是新的，不兼容。叫他改，死活不肯。由于他和我不是同一个 manager，人根本不鸟我。我manager也拿他没辙。结果只有我花力气。
今天更郁闷了。有个同事手脚慢，交不出货，我manager叫我帮他忙，在他的程序里用一个软件包求一组数据。那我就叫他告诉我程序接口，我该从哪里拿他的原始数据。结果鸟人一个劲让我先试用软件包。我说我试过了，鸟人居然恬不知耻问我要我试用软件包的代码，摆明了不信我。我说我借鉴了软件包开发者的代码。丫的回了封email

Of course I did my own test case. My run file is at aaa.
If you copy this file into your run directory and replace your current file and make, you will see the result from the package. I have made sure that the package compiles and links correctly in your tool. To move on , I will need your feedback on where you store the info so that I can feed them to the package.
By saying using bbb's test case, I credited his help on sample codes, which saves me time. I didn't mean I simply ran his stuffs directly. I have understood what's inside, grabbed what I wanted and done my own homework.

其实不该发火的。我自己也太急于求成了。不能把人人都想象成牛人的。回去跑步去了。要稳重，要稳重。

Roommates
Roommate今天搬出去了.来Austin两年半了,和Roommate一直处的很好.当初我来的时候,他帮了我很多.今年暑假的时候,由于我们公司要南迁,所以我说很可能lease到期后,我就要搬到南边住.没想到居然是他先搬走了.回想我来美国后的Roommates,觉得自己还是很幸运的.都碰到了好人.
开始的时候在Pittsburgh是和Kelvin和Xue住3bedroom的apartment.后来Xue搬走了,来了Yongxian,非常nice的一个post doc.后来,Yongxian的家人来了,我和Kelvin也搬到了新居,住一个很宽敞的2bedroom house.再后来,Kelvin去了加州,搬来了Min.又后来,我搬来了Austin和Gary住.终于,我要一个人住了.想想以前和大家一起度过的日子,真的是很开心.哎,回到现实生活吧...

赌神
昨天晚上公司在隔壁的Renaissance Hotel举办annual party,也就是喝酒,聊天,吃饭,游戏和抽奖.6点多到的,先是drinks和appetizer,就是一堆一堆人聊天,到了7点半,开始正餐.吃了一圈下来,Asian food那边的Cozy Shrimp Wrapped in Wonton很赞,就是用春卷皮包了一个大虾然后炸一下.传统美国项目Roast Top Round of Beef也很好吃.Dissert里的pecan cake很好吃.
快吃完的时候,每人发了一个$20,000的casino chip,可以用来在大厅里玩poker games,包括black jack,texas hold'em,three rivers等.在游戏结束后可以用chip换兑奖券,$5000一张.也就是说,如果不输不赢,每个人可以换4张兑奖券.9点,我在大厅晃了一圈之后,就坐在了一个texas hold'em的桌子上了.texas hold'em是庄家只管发牌,玩家之间互赌的游戏,比较容易控制输赢,不象black jack偶然性那么大.在开始的15分钟,我输了大概$3000左右,不过也大致摸清了其他玩家的情况,谁比较保守,谁喜欢bluff,谁随心所欲.然后就开始赢.先后kill off三个玩家.到了近11点,有人过来通知是最后一把.然后我这桌有个冲动的小印拿了20K的筹码在还没看flop的时候就all in.边上一个小印也all in,因为他才$4000左右,反正也换不到兑奖券,我一看我的牌,AK in suite,darn good.我当场就call了.吓的我下家撤了(good move to him though).然后亮牌.flop里面10,4,K.第一个小印成了一对10,但我是一对K,turn是张6,没有改变,river还是一张K.Knock out.然后开是数钱.最后我一共是165K+,其中包括一个manager给我的$20K,Tao给我的23K和我的原始资本$20K.我在不到两小时,搞了超过100K.赌神小小鸟真是太牛了!!!然后去拿了31张兑奖券,把周围的人看得一楞一楞的.

抽奖开始了.台上大概放了30件奖品,都是gift wrap的.各种形状大小的盒子,也不知道里面是什么东西.被抽到的人上去,选一个盒子,当场拆开看.有的超大的盒子,拆了半天,里面只是一张小小的gift card.规定是一个人只能领一个奖品.我还是比较放心的,因为按照概率,我那么多兑奖券应该被抽中两次.等啊等,终于抽到我了.我最初是想要digital camera的,那些spa gift cards,espresso machine对我来说来说没有用.我看了个差不多大小的盒子,结果拿在手里暴轻,不管了,拆开一看,居然是个ipod nano.嘻嘻.回来后,我就把我剩下的兑奖券给了边上的manager.不过他最后还是没有抽到.整个抽奖一直持续到了12点多.结束后大家闪人.我去拿衣服的时候,边上一个喝的醉醺醺的女的居然一把抢过我的西装说她要了.靠,叫她去死.开车回家,上网,然后睡觉.

旺
最近似乎有点小运气.前天晚上在公司订饭,要了一个chicken chowder cup,人家正好没有了,结果给了一个大bread bowl.今天莫名其妙收到一份TaxCut Premium Federal+State,想了半天也没想起来什么时候买过...但是明明白白的写了我的名字和地址.难道有人送我礼物?我怎么都不知道啊...希望周末公司year end party能够抽个照相机什么的回来.

没有时间
忙死了.
早上9点到公司,晚上9点离开.每天只有两个小时的自由活动时间,然后就是睡觉.第二天早上8点起床,洗漱吃早饭,又去上班.最近的打字速度大大提高.这个星期到目前为止,已经开了5个会了,预计到周末还有3个.希望赶快熬到年底,把任务给完成了.
然后明年一月再去一趟匹兹堡.然后准备着三月休假.
